The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) national league resumes with Week Three fixtures as teams will battle it out to finish tops as it will give them an advantage in the second-round games that will be played at on Saturday and Sunday at the ZRP Support Unit.
Fireworks are expected this weekend as teams are now racing for the league title as well as secure places at this year’s edition of the Region 5 Club Championships.
ZVA Head Corporate Affairs Nothando Magwaza says the highlight of the weekend fixtures will be the men’s games featuring Support Unit against UZ Wolves.
The two teams are the current holders of the Southern Africa Development Community Region Five Club Championships (formerly Zone Club Championships) gold and silver medalists.
The matches will be a repeat of the 2017 club championships finals where the two local clubs met in the finals.
In the women’s league, Harare City who were the gold medalists of the Region 5 Club Championships will lock horns with ZRP Police side, Support Unit.
The men’s league comprises of eight teams, Support Unit, UZ Wolves, Naba, Black Rhinos, Harare City, NUST Vikings, Chinhoyi University of Technology and Highlanders.
The women’s category comprises seven teams – UZ Wolves, Harare City, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Spartans, Support Unit and Hurricanes.
