visual art.jpgA number of visual artists have been identified for the National Arts Gallery open air exhibition project. Among them is Munyaradzi Mazarire who says his work will continue to reveal abstract and figurative paintings and the use of mixed media.

According to the Deputy Director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe Tapfuma Gutsa, the exhibition to be held in the sculpture garden will showcase some of the country’s best visual artists who specialise in installations, oil on canvass, serigraph on canvas or linen, metal and wood sculpture.

One of the artists, Munyaradzi Mazarire said he will show case some of his pieces done in fabric and painted wood.

Among those with pieces likely to feature in the exhibition at the open air sculpture garden and those whose work will be selected for the grand World Cup exhibition to be held in South Africa include abstract painters, metal and wood sculptors and photographers, among others.

Their work will be a point of reference to tell the Zimbabwe story through the artist’s eyes. The collection reveals the hidden influences and benchmarks set by older artists who have collectively shaped art in Zimbabwe.

For years, art has played an integral part in creating harmony and the encouragement of reflections on social identity.
