Visual artists say business has been low during this year’s festive season.

Although a number of tourists visited Zimbabwe during Christmas holiday, visual artists and sculptors in Harare have not realised good sells due to financial challenges bedevilling the country.

Sculptors at Newlands Shopping Centre Netsai Mungoni and Itai Doriro say business has not been performing as expected during the festive season and highlighted the issue of cash shortages in the country as the major problem.

One tourist from Australia says his visit to Zimbabwe signifies that Zimbabwe is safe destination compared to other countries all over the world and appreciated the good work of sculptors by buying the products.

The talented artists earn their living by making metal work, stone curving and basketry which also generate income to pay school fees for their children.
