The Victoria Falls tourism community has condemned reports suggesting the majestic waterfall had dried terming them as ‘misleading’.
In an exclusive interview with ZBC News, Tour Operator at the tourist destination, Yvonee Yandles, said contrary to the reports circulating on the internet, the waterfall has not dried up.
Recent studies indicate that the Victoria Falls will not be drying up or disappearing anytime soon as it may take millions of years to happen regardless of the climate change impact on the water discharge at the waterfall.
There have been reports in circulation to the effect that the majestic falls in the resort town which was voted as one of the must visit destinations for 2019 had dried up.
“It is highly unfortunate that people are spreading malicious and misleading information to the effect that the falls have dried up but that is incorrect as we still have plenty of water and ironically this is our peak season,” Yandles said.
Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe Victoria Falls Chairperson, Farai Chimba, says the current peak season has seen commendable arrivals into the destination adding that the legendary waterfall remains a must see for many tourists who come to Southern Africa.
