athlets.jpgThe 2011 edition of the Victoria Falls Marathon comes down in the resort town this Sunday with almost a 1 000 runners from across the globe expected to participate.

Sport tourism will again showcase its power when the 5th edition of the IAAF-certified Victoria Falls Marathon explodes this Sunday with sponsors of the scenic marathon anticipating a massive turnout that will help in marketing Zimbabwe as a safe tourist destination.

A prize package of US$7 500 is up for grabs in the race that meanders into the national park, the township, past the mighty Victoria Falls, crosses the bridge into Zambia and returns to finish off in Zimbabwe.

The race is split into three categories the 42km marathon, the 21km half marathon and a 5km fun run.
