A 23-year-old man from Sidobe Village a few kilometres from Victoria Falls town was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident and his body was discovered on Saturday morning along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo highway.

The villager identified as Andile Ncube was killed in a suspected hit and run accident along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo highway and his body was discovered around 05:00 hours Saturday morning by some villagers from Sidobe under Chief Mvuthu.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers were called to attend to the scene and are currently carrying out investigations.

Villagers who spoke to the ZBC News team said they heard the sound of someone screaming and had to rush to the highway only to discover the body of the late with some fractures.

“Most of us were sleeping when the incident occurred and it was upon hearing the sound of someone screaming that we had to rush to find out and we arrived here to discover the body of our fellow villager,” said a witness.

The deceased is believed to have been coming from Lupinyu Growth Point where he had gone for a night out and was on his way back to the village when the accident occurred.
