Most vendors in the capital city of Harare appear to have heeded the call by the government to desist from illegal vending.

A survey by ZBC in the streets of Harare revealed that only a few vendors were selling their wares.

Some of the vendors appealed to the government and the city council to provide a lasting solution to their challenges while only a few were adamant that they will not leave the streets.

Harare City Council spokesperson Mr Michael Chideme said they are looking at amicable resolutions and encouraged vendors to be law abiding citizens.

The city council has set out some designated vending sites, however the vendors are shunning those areas in favour of the central business district thereby creating friction.
