The University of Zimbabwe (UZ)’s group of researchers, who won the  bid to assess the impact of western imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe, have finally signed the government contract to conduct the economic impact of the sanctions.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development, Dr Machivanyika Mapuranga said UZ was chosen to carry out the comprehensive report on the impact of illegal sanctions imposed by Britain, America and their western allies on Zimbabwe through a rigorous and transparent adjudication process.

UZ Vice Chancellor, Professor Levi Nyagura said his institution will live up to expectations to fulfill the mandate bestowed on them.

It is expected that the findings of the research will be published in international journals such as the African Journal of Economic Policy, the South African Journal of Economic History and the Journal of Applied Sciences in Southern Africa.
