In a bid to promote sporting excellence and institutional ambassadorship, the University of Zimbabwe held its annual Vice Chancellor (VC) Awards.

Volleyball men was named as the most improved team whilst volleyball women scooped the team of the year award at a colourful awards ceremony held at the university campus.

Volleyball men were rewarded for their sterling performance which saw them named 2017 ZTISU, ZUSA, Harare Volleyball League champions and national youth gold medalists.

Volleyball women declared a no man’s territory continued by scooping the team of the year for the second time on the trot.

Patron of the awards, Professor Levi Nyagura, who was the guest speaker, said the awards are held against the desire to produce graduates who are innovative, champions, creative and fly high like eagles in their endevours.

Gary Vundla was named the best sports woman in the paralympics category.

The university also went further to reward students who dedicated their time in serving the institution and those who excelled academically.
