fun.jpgThe University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Arts today hosted a fun day meant to raise funds ahead of the Research Expo to be held in September.

 

 

The Faculty of Arts department is expecting to raise about US$5, 000 in order for the September expo to be a success.

 

Lecturers, students and parents converged at the University of Zimbabwe grounds as various activities such as sport, music and dance competitions and braaing competitions were held as fundraising efforts.

 

A Lecturer in the English Department, Nyasha Mboti said the event has been a success adding that the September Research Expo will focus on various issues including music, HIV and Aids, indigenous knowledge systems, among others.

 

Dean of Arts in the department, Professor Pedzisai Mashiri said the Research Expo is going to be based on the theme ‘Transformative research for sustainable development’ and it is going to engage both the public and private sector.

 

In the Expo, all local universities will participate in the University of Zimbabwe Research output programmes held in the past ten years.

 

Ahead of the September event, the UZ Arts department is now inviting other interested partners to come and identify indigenous knowledge and put it into practice.
