The private sector has been urged to take advantage of government policies that promote the local industry and boost production.
This came out at the Megafirst Business Awards held in Harare.
Several private and public companies scooped awards at the awards ceremony with local companies being urged to take advantage of government’s economic policies aimed at stimulating industrial growth.
The guest of honour at the event Zodwa Mthunzi, a businesswoman, said while the awards are a motivation to the business community at large, it is important that companies in both the private and public sector speed up the country’s economic recovery programme.
Some of the winners at the ceremony who spoke to ZBC News said the awards are recognition of the hard work being done by local companies in achieving a positive business trajectory.
Several companies that include Pote Holdings, River Valley Properties, Astra Paints and CBZ Holdings among others, scooped awards in different categories.
The government has put in place different policies that include Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016 aimed at boosting local production and increase capacity utilisation for local companies.
