The Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ) says despite the problems being faced by local authorities they are expecting a number of investors to come in and invest, particularly in infrastructure.

UCAZ Secretary General Mr Levison Mutekede says following the successful hosting of the Local Government Investment Conference in Victoria Falls last year, there has been renewed interest in investing in local authorities.

Mr Mutekede says despite the problems local authorities are facing, initiatives such as the service level benchmarking have shown that they are willing to improve the quality of service that they offer to residents.

This year’s edition of the Local Government Investment Conference is slated for Harare from the 7th to the 9th of August.

The theme of the conference is: ‘Local Government, Promoting Investment And Industrialisation For Sound Economic Development.’
