The initiative by government to unite the nation through the church has been hailed as a positive move that will see Zimbabweans living in perfect harmony.

Speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai at the official closing ceremony of the Nations For Christ Convocation, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr Jameson Timba said such unity of purpose is the first step in the journey of national healing.

“We cannot walk together unless we are agreed on the final destination we seek,” Mr Timba said.

The convener of the convocation, Apostle Alexander Chisango  expressed satisfaction with the turn out and government involvement.

“The attendance was inspiring and our programme will achieve something,” said Apostle Chisango.

The national healing process was established by the inclusive government and the church has heeded the call for society to be pro-active towards promoting peace and stability.

The convocation coincided with the International Peace Day on 21 September which has been marked by UN.

The African Union has marked 2010 as a Year of Peace.
