Over 50 international travel and tourism buyers are in the resort town of Victoria Falls to explore the tourism market as part of the post Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo activities.
The buyers described Zimbabwe as a hidden gem and have implored the country to leverage on its biodiversity and prioritise the regional market to enhance the growth of the sector.
The travel and tourism buyers drawn from countries such as the UK, USA, Japan and South Africa also said Zimbabwe is a unique destination, highlighting the need for the country to harness the tourism sector as a tool for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
With some of the international tourism destinations witnessing a decline in arrivals due to security concerns, some of the buyers believe Zimbabwe can leverage on its peace dividend in order to boost arrivals.
Some of the freelancers and bloggers who were part of the delegation said Zimbabwe remains safe and hospitable contrary to the negative media reports.
With over 1.2 billion people on the continent, regional buyers said Zimbabwe and other African nations should prioritise attracting domestic and regional tourists given the immense benefits.
The just concluded 10th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo has been described as a success given the increase in the number of exhibitors and international buyers.
