The Zimbabwe Under 20 national side has began preparations for the 2011 COSAFA Youth Championship set for Botswana early next month.
Coach Taurai Mangwiro is a man bent to prove his worthy! After managing a bronze medal in last yearâ€™s COSAFA youth championship, Mangwiro is not taking anything for guaranteed and has called in a 31-member provisional squad.
With eleven strikers in camp, observers can argue Mangwiro is certainly looking at moulding an all attacking team.
Among the 31 players, Mangwiro has retained only eight players from last yearâ€™s squad while only three have featured for the Under 17s and the rest are earning their first caps for the Under 20.
In his squad are two foreign-based youngsters, Trevor Mutero who features for English side, FC Reading Juniors and Tinotenda Chibharo who is playing college football in the US.
The Under 20 team is in Group D alongside Madagascar, Namibia and Angola.
Zimbabwe finished as bronze medalist in the 2010 edition after losing 1-nil to Zambia the semi finals.
