simba mumbengegwi.jpgThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi is in Kampala, Uganda to attend the 17th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union to be held tomorrow until Friday.

 

This is in preparation for the 15th Ordinary Session of the AU Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held from the 25th to the 27th of this month.

 

The Executive Council is expected to consider among other issues, progress reports on the Second Ministerial Meeting on the Rome Statute and the Abuse of the Principle of Universal Jurisdiction.

 

The ministers will also elect members of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights and Welfare of children.

 

They will also elect judges of the African Court on Human and People’s Rights.

 

Zimbabwe is an active member of the AU and is currently one of the five members of the AU Peace and Security Council during the period April 2010 to April 2013.
