The under 14 Afro Asia Cricket Cup got underway today with Zimbabwe, Zambia, India and Tanzania battling it out at Old Hararians Sports Club.

The exciting junior cricket tournament will run until the 8th of this month.

Zimbabwe registered an emphatic 9-wicket win in their opening encounter against Tanzania while in the other contest India overcame Zambia by 20 runs at the under 14 event.

Heath Streak Academy Chief Executive Officer Joseph Rego was satisfied with how the event began outlining the broad vision of giving young talent a platform to shine and develop.

Budding cricketers drawn from participating teams were excited to be part of the tourney.

The Afro Asia Cup is an event with a thrust of bringing together players in the under 14 age group in a competitive environment.

As Zimbabwe searches for answers in the current slump by the senior national team events such as the Afro Asia Cup seek to address the challenges of talent development.
