The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted two Airforce of Zimbabwe (AFZ) officers from the rank of Wing Commander to the Group Captain.

The promoted are Group Captain Joseph Masiko and Group Captain Fidelis Munyoro, whose promotions are in line with Section 15(1)(b) of the Defence Act chapter 11.02.

Speaking during the conferment of the badges of rank, AFZ Commander, Air Marshal Elson Moyo told the newly promoted group captains that promotion comes with more responsibilities.

He also said the AFZ is a professional organisation and as such, the newly promoted officers should lead by example.

“I once again say congratulations to the promoted. I urge you to remain loyal to the government and the Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and bear in mind that promotions come with lot of responsibilities. Also respect your subordinates and remember that promotion is not a license to abuse your juniors,” Air Marshall Moyo said.

Speaking on the acceptance of the new ranks, the senior officers pledged to execute their duties with due diligence and loyalty.
