Youth leaders from various groups have described the Prime Minister, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai’s gay stance as disgraceful, saying the man has proved that he cannot rule a well-cultured country like Zimbabwe.
Harare Provincial Zanu PF Youth League Chairman, Cde Jim Kunaka said the Prime Minister’s call for gay rights to be enshrined in the constitution will never see the light of the day, adding that youths from all corners of the country will fight hard to block such activities.
Some leaders of youth pressure groups highlighted that the stance by the MDC-T leader of supporting homosexuality in the country has proved that Mr Tsvangirai is out of touch with the reality on the ground as the people he intends to lead are totally against such practices.
Early last week, Mr Tsvangirai stunned the nation when he appeared on BBC highlighting that gay rights are indeed human rights and he would want to see them guaranteed in the new constitution currently being drafted.
His utterances resulted in a grilling session in the House of Assembly over the issue even by members of his own party, only for him to chicken out when he knew Senators were also going to take him to task.
