Trojan Mine has evicted primary school teachers from staff accommodation after a decision by the mine management leaving some teachers stranded.

Four Trojan Mine Primary School teachers have so far been evicted out of 17 whose staff accommodation was withdrawn by the mine following the implementation of a decision by its management made a few years ago.

Some of the teachers were caught by surprise saying the matter was still before the courts with an interdict to stop evictions having been issued in July.

In a telephone interview, Zimbabwe Teachers Association Chief Executive Officer Mr Sifiso Ndlovu condemned the move as it violates a policy which mandates mine schools to provide accommodation for teachers.

He said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education should intervene by suspending the school while urging the Public Service Commission to take action.

Contacted for comment on Friday afternoon, the Trojan Mine Human Resources Manager referred all questions to the company’s lawyers whose contacts he promised to avail on Monday.
