The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) says the continued training of the military is critical in order to deal with new threats brought about by the new technology.

This came out at the graduation ceremony of 54 officers after completing a junior staff course number 67 at the Zimbabwe Staff College.

The political and socio economic environment has brought about security threats due to the advent of the internet.

Secretary of Defence, Mr Martin Rushwaya said there is need to enhance training programmes for the military in order to keep abreast with the changing environment.

Mr Rushwaya encouraged the military to increase female officers in their training programme for gender equity.

A total of 54 students have completed their six months training programme and allied students from the SADC including Botswana, Namibia and Swaziland among others participated.
