Investments in the tourism sector continue on a positive trajectory as industry players position themselves to gain from the anticipated growth in tourism traffic into Zimbabwe this year.
Authorities anticipate tourist arrivals to reach at least 3 million by year end.
Effectively this is pushing players towards expansion or at least improving the quality of existing infrastructure to enhance competitiveness.
Hotel group, Cresta Zimbabwe is among industry players positioning for this expected growth after investing US$12 million to upgrade its facilities across the country.
Their latest project, a US$3.5 million upgrade in Harare was officially re-opened on Friday (yesterday) night by Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Honourable Prisca Mupfumira who outlined supportive instruments and facilities by government to complement such investment confidence.
Regarded as a low hanging fruit, the tourism industry is expected to improve the country’s foreign currency earnings.
Zimbabwe broke statistics records in tourism arrivals last year after recording 2.7 million visitors.
