Cde Mzembi said this at a dinner hosted for delegates attending the two day Federation of African Journalists second congress  in the capital

The Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Cde Walter Mzembi said that the tourism sector is apolitical hence it can play a critical role in ensuring dialogue among member states.


The media have played a critical role in the revival and growth of the country’s tourism industry’s as shown by the accolades received from the international community , said Cde Mzembi.


Zimbabwe has been awarded an executive seat in the United Nations World Tourism Organization and has been ranked 35 out of 133 countries in terms of attractiveness under the world economic forum rankings.


Journalists from Africa are attending at two day media conference in Harare and issues such as media accountability and quality, press freedom, media development in Africa as well as working conditions of media practitioners came under the spotlight among other issues.
