Representative bodies of tourism industry employees and employers will this week meet in Harare to deliberate on salary review with expectations from the workers of a better deal after last year’s minor adjustments.
Workers in the tourism industry who last year got 1,5 percent salary adjustment are upbeat this week’s negotiations will yield positive results which will contribute to the improvement of their welfare.
Employers Association of Tourism and Safari Operators President, Mr Clement Mukwasi expressed confidence of a fruitful meeting which will strike a balance on the need to sustain the current rebound of the sector and cater for the needs of the workers.
Going forward, the local tourism industry is hopeful of benchmarking the salaries and other conditions of service with those obtaining in the region.
Apart from contributing to the current growth momentum, the tourism sector employees have in the past been commended for their hospitality and professionalism.
