Tourism industry leaders have embarked on an intensive mobilisation drive for local exhibitors ahead of the 2017 Sanganai/Hlanganani tourism fair to be held in Bulawayo.
With just under 90 days to go before the start of the Sanganai, local exhibitors are being encouraged to effectively participate at the largest tourism platform in the country to ensure that it continues to play a pivotal role to market the country on both regional and international markets.
Statistics from last year reflect subdued participation by local exhibitors as most cited budgetary constraints.
The Zimbabwe Council of Tourism Chief Executive Officer Mr Paul Matamisa says they are already engaging industry players under their wings to hype support for the event.
Similar efforts are also being undertaken by the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) which targets to increase the visibility of the country’s hospitality products through maximum participation, notes HAZ Administrator Ms Violet Rukande.
This year’s edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani tourism fair will be held from 27 September to 1 October after organisers of the event secured funding from the government and will be hosted in Bulawayo for the next 3 years.
