The tourism industry has been recording growth in the first quarter of the year and stakeholders are confident that projections of 15% are achievable this year.

The forthcoming tourism month is anticipated to play a critical role in setting the pace for the sector.

Traverse Managing Director, Ms Zodwa Mutunzi said the tourism month will open a new chapter for the sector as promoting of culture will take centre stage despite other tourist destinations.

Pumpkin Hotel Managing Director, Mr. Douglas Murehwa said focus will be directed towards creating a buy-in from all stakeholders in marketing the country’s brand which has been launched in various countries.

This year’s tourism month will be held under the theme, ‘tourism linking cultures’ in a bid to promote cultural values.

The tourism sector has been aggressively marketing the country’s brand in various parts of the world.
