As part of the ongoing campaign to promote domestic tourism, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has urged stakeholders in the tourism sector especially the hospitality industry to provide packages to locals during this festive season.

This comes after the realisation that there are no such packages as the local tourism industry is only focusing on foreign tourists according to a recent tourism market research.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr Sylvester Maunganidze said the industry can only grow through domestic tourism.

The country’s culture, township life, food as well as religions can also be packaged to form a new tourism package that can be sold locally and abroad.

Zimbabwe is endowed with vast natural resources and tourist attractions among them the Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, Eastern highlands, Lake Kariba and Matopo among a number of mountains with bush paintings as well as the different cultures in the country.
