tobacco-floors.jpgFarmers have welcomed the tobacco prices offered by merchants at the opening of 2011 auction floors.


One of the farmers who fetched the highest price of US$4,29c per kg, Mr. Hilary Mombeshora said while the prices offered sound viable it is the hope of farmers that Merchants will not betray them as the season progresses.



Tobacco Industry and Markerting Board, Vice Chairperson Mrs Monica Chinamasa urged farmers to be wary of swindlers.


The opening of the 2011 tobacco marketing season marked another chapter in the history of the land reform as production levels are expected to witness about 20% increase in the golden leaf output and rake in over US$380 million to the country this season.
