tobacco floors sale.jpgTobacco sales have been temporarily closed for the Easter holidays which begin tomorrow, with most floors confirming that they will only be accepting deliveries while sales will be done after the holidays.

However, some farmers who spoke to ZBC News from the Tobacco Sales Floors have raised concern over the sudden increase of the rejection rate at the TSF saying it is now giving re-handlers an opportunity to swindle them.

In his response, Managing Director for TSF, Mr. James Mutambanesango challenged farmers to properly grade and handle their crop so as to minimise rejection.

He called on them to ensure they properly process their crop before delivering it.

According to statistics released by the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board, 43.3 million kilogrammes of the golden leaf has been sold, raking in US$161.3 million.
