The Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs Cde Miriam Chikukwa has appealed for the corporate world to mobilise resources towards the urgent construction of education infrastructure at Tinokwirira Special School in Mabvuku, Harare.

Opened in 1980, Tinokwirira Special School cares for and educates children with mental and physical challenges such as down syndrome, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and autism.

The school is facing some challenges with ECD learners currently using storerooms for learning purposes and the school is in dire need of transport facilities to ferry children to and from school.

Cde Chikukwa highlighted the need for the corporate world to partner with Simudziranayi Community Organisation in the mobilisation of funds for the construction of an ECD block, computer lab and toilet facilities at the school.

Chairperson of Simudziranayi Community Organisation Zinzile Mantibiza bemoaned the stigma children living with special needs face in society.

Tinokwirira Special School currently has an enrolment of 44 children from Mabvuku and other surrounding areas.
