Country music artist, Godfrey Ruwonde has released a 10 track CD and DVD album which he says is a present for this year’s Easter commemorations as the songs celebrate the life of Jesus Christ.

Ruwonde’s album features two of his hit tracks, “Hero” and “look at the cross,” songs which remind Christians about the ultimate sacrifice which was paid by Jesus Christ to save the world.

In the song “hero”, Ruwonde was backed by renowned instrumentalists who include Forward Mazuruse and Collins Katedza.

In addition, there are other tracks which narrate the beauty of the country and the wonders of Zimbabwe’s tourist resorts through songs such as “Zimbabwe” and “We are travelling”.

Ruwonde says his country music which is inspired by a number of western and country musicians who include Kenny Rogers and Potter Wagon, is now fused and blended with African rhythms.

Other songs which feature on the new album include Holy Place, Honour Thy Parents, Sixth Sense and We Reap What We Saw.

The 51 year old musician, who started singing way back in 1971, only started recording in 2010 when he released an album “He needs Your Heart”.

His latest album is his third.
