nothando thutani.jpgThe late Deputy Director External in the President‘s Department, Cde Nothando Thuthani who was laid to rest at Paradise Cemetery in Marondera has been described as a champion of women’s empowerment.
Born in 1954 in Marondera , Cde Nonthando Thuthani dedicated her life to the emancipation and empowerment of women and the girl child.

Cde Thuthani helped many women in the country and abroad to realize and attain their goals.

Mrs Tsitsi Sekeramayi , wife to the Minister of State Security, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi,  described the late cadre as a role model and champion of women empowerment, a sentiment shared by other women who attended her burial ceremony.

Cde Thuthani who was a member of the Zanu PF Central Committee started her political career during her studies in England where she was elected the President of the African Students Association in Sheffield in 1978.

After her studies she joined the intelligence service in 1983 and rose through the ranks to be the Deputy Director External in the President’s Office.

She is the only woman to occupy a post this high in a profession dominated by men which is testimony to Cde Thuthani’s good leadership qualities, and commitment to national duty.
