Zimbabwe’s tourism sector outclassed regional destinations after scooping three accolades at the 2019 edition of the Pacific Travel Writers Association Awards held in Berlin, Germany.

It was a shining moment for Zimbabwe as the nation confirmed its position on the global market as a destination of choice.

The standing ovations, a seal of approval to the huge strides that Zimbabwean tourism authorities have made to enhance the country’s image to the international market are a huge boost for enhanced opportunities for the country.

 Zimbabwe emerged the biggest winner at the Pacific Travel Writers Associations Awards after bagging gongs in three categories namely the Sustainable Destination of the Year, Tourism Minister of the Year (won by the Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Cde Prisca Mupfumira) and International Woman Achiever of the Year.

The awards recognise excellence of organisations, nations, corporates and individuals who have played outstanding roles in transforming their industries.

Former United Nations Secretary General Dr Taleb Rifai described the awards as an important milestone that will be pivotal in promoting Zimbabwe on the global map and improve destination perceptions.

These accolades add to the positive strides that Zimbabwe has made in cementing its position on the international market after being voted among the top 3 must visit destinations this year.
