The inaugural 2017 Radio Zimbabwe road show attracted thousands of people who converged to meet and interact with their favourite radio personalities at Bezel Bridge in Mutare West constituency.
It was a rare opportunity for Radio Zimbabwe listeners as they had their first ever chance to meet and interact with radio personalities at their door steps.
The outreach programme, which was broadcast live, also brought some of the renowned local artists as they shared the stage, entertaining the huge crowd.
The open air arena was converted into a studio as Radio Zimbabwe personalities who were there paraded themselves on to the stage.
Radio Zimbabwe Executive Producer, Sifelani Chikwape and Presenter/Producer, Patricia Jacob concurred that the road show was bridging the gap and bringing radio closer to the people while at the same time creating a healthy presenter-listener relationship.
Radio Zimbabwe Station Manager, Mr Albert Chekayi said 12 road shows have been lined across the country this year.
He applauded the Mutare West Radio Zimbabwe listeners for the huge turnout, saying through the outreach programmes, the radio station has reclaimed its market share and increased its listenership.
Listeners on the other hand applauded Radio Zimbabwe for organising the road show, saying the programme shows that the national broadcaster values its listeners.
Among some of the popular local musicians who took turns to entertain the crowd were Blessing Shumba and Brian Samaita, and surely, they did not disappoint the crowd.
Indeed it was a memorable day as corporates and small businesses also cashed in as they provided the much needed services to the people.
