lobola cast.jpgTheatre lovers in Harare are being offered a chance to see plays from some of the country’s best theatre production houses after the opening of a three-play theatre programme in Harare.

The programme has attracted theatre directors, producers and actors from beyond the country’s borders, and is in line with the new theatre season which kicks off this month.

Theatre producer, Mr Peter Churu said the programme, which is being hosted by Complete Arts Project and Global Arts Trust, said the main idea is to introduce theatre goers to in-house programmes away from outside festivals.

A number of plays being shown were written by young playwrights, featuring upcoming actors and directors.

Most of the plays being shown will have a chance to be showcased at this year’s Intwasa Arts Festival to be held end of September.

The three-play programme gives opportunity to theatre productions that have had no opportunity to be shown to a large audience.

The programme, which ends on the 17th of September, comes at the backdrop of the just ended Youth Cultural Festival in Masvingo and the Chimanimani Arts festival.
