The 25-year-old will miss Wednesday’s Manchester derby, and is not expected to play for another 3 weeks. Rooney is to train at the Nike World Campus in Oregon.


The England International caused controversy recently when he signed a new 5-year contract only 5 days after stating that he wanted to leave Old Trafford.


Enow Ngachu,  the coach of Cameroon’s women national soccer team has expressed happiness at his side’s 2-1 victory in Fridays game against Ghana saying his side is on course for a historic finishing in this years competition.


 Speaking shortly after the match, the coach reiterated that he knew the weaknesses of his opponent after watching their opening day game against Algeria.


rafaelnadal.jpgWorld number 1, Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Paris Masters – where he was due to be top seed – due to tendinitis in his left shoulder.

The Spaniard has not competed since 14 October, when he suffered a shock defeat to Jurgen Melzer in Shanghai. Nadal will now miss the French event, which begins on Sunday.


 The 9-time Grand Slam winner is still scheduled to contest the season-ending ATP World Tour finals in London, starting on 21 November.


mark-webber.jpgAustralian Mark Webber has denied claims he plans to leave Red Bull after being outpaced by his younger team-mate Sebastian Vettel of Germany in both of Friday’s practice sessions for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix.


Webber who is just 11 points behind Ferrari’s Spanish driver Fernando Alonso in the drivers’ world championship, said on Thursday that Red Bull would prefer Vettel to take the title despite the German being a further 14 points adrift.


This was translated as a veiled threat to his team bosses that he would move on at the end of the year, but Webber said he had no intention of leaving the pace-setting team.


Australia’s national cricket team captain Ricky Ponting has conceded the doom and gloom around the team will only be dispelled when they start winning again.

Australia were outplayed by Sri Lanka in the 2nd  of 3 one-dayers on Friday to lose their 7th straight match in all forms of the game.
Cricket Australia has decided to pull him out of the final one-dayer.

Ponting missed Wednesday’s opening defeat by Sri Lanka to attend his grandmother’s funeral and will also skip Sunday’s match in Brisbane to return to Tasmania and prepare for a domestic Sheffield Shield match.

The 31-year-old has won 4 World Championships in 7 years at Yamaha but will race for Ducati in 2011.

Rossi said he would like to win as it would be a great end to a partnership, which has had so many beautiful moments.


 The Italian finished 2nd in Estoril last year, 1 of 4 successive top-3 placings, and is currently 19 points behind 2nd placed Dani Pedrosa.
