Zanu PF National Chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo says the liberation struggle that was premised on the attainment of sovereignty and right to self determination should see Zimbabweans taking full control of their resources to achieve national goals.
Ambassodor Moyo was speaking at the burial of Matabeleland South Liberation war hero, Cde Jacob Mlalazi, at his Uniondale farm homestead in Bulilima district.
He said the supreme sacrifice made by freedom fighters calls for people to determine their own destiny through full ownership of the country’s resources, adding that Zimbabweans should fully embrace the current indigenisation and economic empowerment drive, which seeks to address the economic imbalances that prevailed before.
Ambassador Moyo paid tribute to Cde Mlalazi, who was an ex-detainee, for the role he played before and after independence, saying his wisdom and visionary aptitude will be greatly missed.
Cde Mlalazi was also commended for a significant role he played in uniting Zimbabweans during the signing of the Unity Accord in 1987.
Family spokesperson, Mr Christopher Mlalazi urged the family to remain united and emulate the humble and patriotic character of Cde Mlalazi.
Cde Mlalazi died last week at the age of 86 after succumbing to cancer.Â
He is survived by his wife, Mazzie and 23 children.
