ivan brown-taekwondo.jpgThe Taekwondo team set to represent the nation at the 6th edition of the South Africa Taekwondo Championships over the weekend has expressed confidence that it will shine at the tournament.

The 7-member International Taekwondo Academy team led by the All-Africa Championship Silver medalist for 2009, Sensei Evan Brown, boasts of medals from previous tournaments hence the positive air of expectation among the team.

 

Brown reckons success is beckoning for his team.

 “We have spent enough time training and some of the team members have medals so……yes we are prepared and hoping to bring more medals this time around,” said Brown.

Kundai Mnangagwa, a two-time Junior Gold medalist at the same event and Belinda Hlatswayo who will be participating at the event also expressed confidence in bringing back honours.

 “Our team is ready for the battle and we are hoping that we will make it,” added the two.

The team also comprises Melissa Coleman, Santa Ramajan, Ilona Dzikiti, Paul Danisa and Theo Moughara who all have seen action at the competition before.

 

The South Africa Taekwondo Championships will be held at the Uniao Cultural Recreativa E Sportuva Portuguesa in Turffontein from the 24th to the 26th of this month.
