The Swedish government says it will continue to work with the government in promoting youth-oriented development in the country as part of strengthening bilateral relations shared between the two countries.

Speaking to the ZBC News after an hour-long closed door meeting with the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Honourable Kirsty Coventry at her offices in Harare today, Swedish Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ms Sofia Calltorp said her government will continue to partner and fund youths programs in the country.

“Uplifting women and youth, and gender parity in sports was also an area of discussion in the meeting,” said Ambassador Calltorp.

Meanwhile, Minister Coventry also met with the Cuban Ambassador later in the daywhere several issues were discussed which include funding of youth initiatives and ideas exchange on sports development.

The Swedish and Cuban governments have a strong partnership with Zimbabwe, with Sweden having been funding several youth development projects in the country.
