A Tsholotsho man accused of raping his 13 year old step daughter and his accomplice accused of bedding the same victim have been sentenced to 36 months in prison for escaping their holding cells.

Harden Dube (33) and Never Ndlovu (29) pleaded guilty to the charges of escaping jail when they appeared before Tsholotsho resident magistrate, Victor Mpofu.

It is the state’s case that on the 24th of September at 12 midnight at Sphepha, the duo attacked a police officer on duty with rocks before fleeing and fortunately, they were later apprehended.

Dube, who is the rape victim’s step father and Ndlovu are yet to face trial over allegations of rape.

The cases were remanded for the 15th October.
