Gwanda Provincial Hospital and the Gwanda Home of the Aged benefited from grocery items donated by a local chain supermarket, Choppies, which marked two years anniversary in the town.

The supermarket donated grocery items worth about $1 000 to the two institutions.

In an interview with the ZBC News, the supermarket’s Gwanda manager Hapson Torewa indicated that the donation was his organisation’s way of giving back to the community for welcoming them to the town.

Representatives of the beneficiaries, Acting Medical Superintendent for Gwanda Provincial Hospital Dr Rutendo Manyati and Chairperson of the Gwanda Home of the Aged Mr Rido Mpofu, expressed their gratitude for the benevolence extended to them.

The supermarket was officially opened in the town in 2015 by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko.

The celebrations were punctuated by dance and entertainment for the public.
