Isaac Sugar Chimuchenga’s path to glory started in the middleweight competition where 10 body builders battled for the winners’ prize of US$ 1 000.

Sugar did not disappoint as he lived up to expectations with a polished display that saw him standing tall to walk away the grand prize.

Vincent Kandiero settled for second place, while Zumaila Meman finished third.

With the middleweight crown in the bag, further glory beckoned when he lined up alongside seasoned campaigners, George Munyoro and Givemore Marume for the overall winner.

The overall top prize of US$ 4 000 was contested for by winners of the lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight categories, with the judges not looking for the biggest competitor but for the best proportioned and symmetrical body.

It was the reigning Mr Iron Man, Sugar who caught the judges’ eye as he outfoxed his more illustrious competitors.

Earlier, some accomplished bodybuilders had taken to the stage in the lightweight category, among them the veteran George Munyoro, a man who has seen it all in the sport.

The heavyweight category was a mouthwatering battle of colossal figures who weighed over 91 kilogrammes.

Four time Mr Zimbabwe winner, Givemore Marume and Walter Munyikwa, who’s also among the previous winners of the Mr Zimbabwe competition were the favourites for the top prize.

In the end, it was Marume who triumphed over his rival Munyikwa to successfully defend his heavyweight title.
