The Executive Director of the Presidential Scholarship Scheme, Cde Chris Mushowe who spoke to ZBC News crew during a send-off ceremony of more than 500 students confirmed that diamond processing studies have this year been included under the programme.

Students who spoke to ZBC News hailed the Presidential Scholarship Scheme while some parents urged government to increase financial support to benefit more under-privileged people.

Despite failure to get adequate funding from the Finance Ministry, the Presidential Scholarship Programme which was established in 1995 has helped many less privileged students to study in various universities in South Africa.
