mining sector.jpgMining industry stakeholders say there is need to further adjust taxes and royalties for minerals in order for the country to fully benefit from its mineral resources.

Zimbabwe Miners Federation Presiden, Mr. Trynos Nkomo feels the tax framework and royalties need a further relook so as to guarantee maximum benefit from the country’s mineral resources.

 

 
Zimbabwe Women in Mining President, Mrs. Eveline Musharu expressed concern at the lack of social investment in some mining communities and said given that minerals are non renewable, government must consider compensation for permanent loss of resources.

 
Recently the government adjusted royalties on minerals in order to maximise on revenue generated from mining activities.

 
Government has committed itself to making sure the country gets maximum benefits from the mineral resources through the 51% local ownership and 49% foreign ownership of mining firms as well as the current review of the mining regulations.
