The country is set to benefit immensely from the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (IEF) which is underway in Russia where lucrative deals are set to be clinched.
The Minister of Mines and Mining Development Cde Walter Chidhakwa who is attending the IEF says Zimbabwe is expected to learn from Russia how to best manage the diamond sector given that it is the world’s largest diamond mining nation.
He said as the country consolidates its diamond mining, there are lessons to be learnt.
He further stated that there are hopes to establish and consolidate the gas exploration sector with Russia set to partner the country in the Lupane gas project where vast amounts of gas remain unexploited due to challenges in financing the project.
Cde Chidhakwa said other areas of cooperation include the exploration and procurement of equipment needed in the mining sector.
The St Petersburg IEF is a hunting ground for Zimbabwe which needs investment partners, especially in the exploitation of available high value natural resources.
