A sport and arts jamboree, featuring a diverse range of sport codes, has roared into life in Chegutu.

The Chegutu municipality mobilised resources from various well wishers to bankroll the tournament, held at various venues depending on a particular sport code.

Participants included schools and community teams as well as individuals.

Athletes applauded the move, saying it gives them an opportunity to interact, nurture talent and keep themselves physically fit.

Chegutu Mayor, Councilor Leo Ggwanzura said lessons have been learnt from the tournament especially regarding the need to develop requisite sports infrastructure.

For Chegutu West legislator, Cde Dexter Nduna, sport and arts festivals are key in fostering unity in the community.

Due to lack of requisite facilities, some activities such as badminton had to be dropped although they were on schedule.
