The Special Olympics national advancement games ended in the capital on Saturday (yesterday) with a 23 member delegation selected to represent the country at the 2019 Special Olympics to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Shepherd Patrick of Mashonaland Central was among athletes that made the team with golfers Michael Mudyanadzo, Raramai Mutengondo and Munyaradzi Musariri set to play 18 holes at the global showpiece.

Special Olympics Zimbabwe president Viola Musariri was satisfied by the participation of 7 provinces at this year’s selection games.

Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa praised Special Olympics for taking a leading in advancing the spirit of inclusivity in Zimbabwean sport.

Zimbabwe will be competing in athletics, golf and bochi when the Special Olympics global advancement games roar into life in 2019.
