Special Olympics Zimbabwe today held its annual golf day at Chapman Golf Club where more than 187 athletes from all over the country commemorated the Special Olympics Day.
The event also marked the launch and introduction of a new concept or initiative of fitness and performance stations with special focus on nutrition, physical education and hydration.
Zimbabwe Special Olympics were chosen by Special Olympics International to be one of the global pioneers of the new project after the successful launch of its fitness and wellness clubs countrywide to spearhead the new fitness and perfomance initiative.
Several local leading sports stars including golfers were roped in to help motivate, coach and share some of their own experiences with the special olympic athletes.
The annual Special Olympics Day was commemorated with a lot of fun and athletes engaged in different activities on the golf course as athletes with special needs interacted and given free coaching lessons by professional and elite athletes.
