Veteran musician Somandla Ndebele believes his latest album offering titled ‘Dadanewako’ will be the best in his music history.
The album is his 22nd after his last project that was released 2013 called ‘Zvemberi Makasa’.
The album was launched in the capital yesterday night.
Soma as Ndebele is affectionately known in the music circles, who has worked with a number of top musicians among them the late Tongai Moyo, Sulumani Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah said he has been around for a while and he thinks this is his best recording ever as he capitalised on his experience.
His first album came in 1992, and his first recording was a single in 1988 which translates to 29 years in the industry.
Recorded by Munyaradzi Viya at Vialy Studios, the album is made up of five sungura tracks and a single reggae track.
Some of the tracks include ‘Vechidzimai’, ‘Tanga Wabvunza’ and ‘Kufa Inguva’.
Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele is one of the most recorded Zimbabwean musician with over 20 albums.
His rise to prominence was in 1999 with the album ‘Mwoyo Wekurera’ which carried the hit track ‘Masimba aMwari’.
The latter featured Tongai Moyo and propelled Ndebele to national stardom.
One of his albums Zvamauya Zvanaka sold over 60 000 copies and Makobvu Nematete sold 20 000.
From there, the humble artist never looked back and his consistence has seen him release 22 albums to date.
