Small business operators in Hwange and Victoria Falls are bullish of generating meaningful business during the 15th Zimbabwe National Youth Games which are set to attract at least 16 000 athletes and technical officials from around the country.

Just a week before the rebranded Zimbabwe National Youth Games roar into life, SMEs and vendors in Hwange and Victoria Falls are hopeful the sporting event will bring a lot of business opportunities.

Entrepreneurs and traders who spoke to ZBC News say they are looking forward to the start of the games and have done enough preparations to ensure that they meet the demand for goods and services.

The business operators say they are aware that it will take some time before the province gets the chance to host the games again and are geared at maximising on the opportunity that has been presented to the province.

Matabeleland North province is home to some of the premier tourists’ destination including Victoria Falls and tourism operators are also hopeful of generating substantial business from the hosting of the annual games.

Apart from being a talent identification platform, the annual sporting event has over the years presented a lot of business opportunities to the domestic business community.
